Writing content to populate your web site it is often considered a daunting task but this need not be the case if you set about it in the right way. Below are some top tips on writing web site content that will not only keep visitors intrigued but coming back for more.
Keep it simple. Studies on surfing trends show that peoples attention span when reading text on a computer screen is only 25% of that compared with reading paper text so your web site content should only be a quarter of the length that you would use in a brochure or in a magazine.
What are your keywords? Decide what terms or ‘keyword’ your customers will use to look for your site. Ask colleagues or friends to think of ten terms they would use in a search engine to find your product then collate the terms and narrow them down to the most popular.
Keyword placement. When actually writing the content for your site make sure it contains your keywords as often as possible whilst still maintaining readability. Take care however not to spam your keywords by repeating too often as this may harm your search engine rankings!
Original and informative content. Make your site informative and original to entice visitors. If your content is informative it will also encourage other web sites to link to yours which in itself will increase your search engine rankings.
Update regularly. Search engines like sites that change regularly and anything that improves your search engine rankings is a bonus. Regular updates also encourage visitors to come back for more. If your web site content does not change there is no incentive for visitors to come back.
